Just here for the picks? Jump to the electrolytes I actually drink →

I didn’t think I needed electrolytes until a summer where I was drinking water all day and still felt wiped by three in the afternoon. Turns out you can drink plenty and still come up short on the minerals that pull that water into your cells. I started adding electrolytes back in, and the afternoon slump mostly went with them.
One rule for me: no sugar. Flip over most sports drinks and the first real ingredient is basically dessert. I want the sodium, potassium, and magnesium. Hold the candy.
Ultima Replenisher is the one I actually run out of. It has flavor without tasting like a melted popsicle, and it skips the gritty sludge some powders leave at the bottom of the glass. There’s a tub by my sink and a couple of stick packs living in my bag at all times.
Some days I don’t want my water to taste like anything. That’s ConcenTrace. You squeeze a few drops in and they basically vanish. I’ve started putting it in my morning coffee too, which sounds strange, but you can’t taste it, so who cares. Trace Minerals also makes a liquid magnesium I take at night. Most of us are running low on magnesium and don’t know it, and the liquid doesn’t sit in my stomach like a brick the way the big tablets did.
FAST LYTE is the oddball here. No flavor, no color, just the minerals. I keep it around for fasting days.
None of this is a strict routine. Drops in the morning, an Ultima packet when it’s hot out, magnesium before bed. Skip whatever you want. Start with one and see if your afternoons get better.
The picks I keep buying
Ultima Replenisher Electrolyte Mix (the one I run out of fastest)

Flavored, zero sugar, and it doesn’t leave grit at the bottom of the glass. This is the one I burn through.
Size: 30-serving canister
My take: I keep the tub by the sink and a few stick packs in my bag.
Trace Minerals ConcenTrace Drops (my no-flavor option)

Unflavored trace-mineral drops you squeeze into any drink. A little goes a long way and it disappears into water or coffee.
Size: 8 fl oz
My take: It ends up in my morning coffee about as often as my water bottle.
Trace Minerals Liquid Ionic Magnesium, 400 mg (my nightcap)

Liquid magnesium I take at night. Easy to dose small, and it doesn’t sit like a brick the way the big tablets did.
Size: 4 fl oz
My take: Magnesium is the one most of us are low on. The liquid absorbs easier for me.
FAST LYTE No-Sugar Electrolytes Powder (the fasting pick)

A plain, flavorless powder that dissolves clear. Made for fasting and keto days when you don’t want your water to taste like anything.
Size: no-sugar, unflavored
My take: The oddball of the group, and the one I reach for when I’m fasting.
Quick questions
Do I need this if I eat normally?
Probably not every single day. It’s the hot afternoons and the hard workouts where you’ll actually feel the difference.
Why so anti-sugar?
Because a sugary sports drink is a soda in gym clothes. The sugar is why it perks you up, and it’s also why you crash an hour later.
Personal routine, not medical advice. If you have kidney issues or watch your potassium, check with your doctor first.
